Main & Cherry is a family owned winery in the Adelaide Hills dedicated to creating small-batch wines. Together with their estate vineyards in Cherry Gardens and Clarendon they further source grapes from passionate growers in the greater Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale regions.
Meunier is an early maturing variety, it can produce wines with considerable character in cooler climates. In Australia there have been increased plantings of Meunier as growers are looking to replicate the varietal composition of Champagne, however there is also renewed interest in its use for producing still reds and rosé.
This very small batch release was harvested at the Cemetery Block in Uraidla, located in the growing region of Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills. Whole bunch grapes were fermented for 12 days on skins with wild yeasts in open top fermenters, gently hand plunged and basket pressed and matured for 8 months in older French oak.
An expression of place and old–fashioned production techniques, the ornate floral motif has been carefully recrafted amongst the bold and modern varietal typeface, set off by premium Cotone paper stock with laid paper grain effects.
